The NPR swathes were established to provide a degree of tolerance under conventional navigation, under which there was a natural spread of flights across the swathe. With the introduction of perfromance navigation, flights became concentrated, and on Route 4, were pushed outside of the NPR. Our goal is to ensure that planes on Routes 3 and 4 acheive a high level of compliance and promote a reasonable degree of dispersal.
The Noise Preference Route Swathes are shown in the image below for all routes into and out of Gatwick Airport. All planes should fly within the NPR Swathe.
